Courage and Community – RNLI 200 Cymru
29 June 2024 – 1 June 2025
In 2024 we celebrate 200 years of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, the charity dedicated to saving lives at sea. There are six lifeboat stations and 13 RNLI lifeguarded beaches along Pembrokeshire’s beautiful but hazardous coastline. Be inspired by the stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, with games and activities for the whole family. One of two exhibitions in Wales to celebrate this special year, the collaboration between Amgueddfa Cymru, the RNLI and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority also sees displays at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

St Davids Room - The Peace by Piece by Value Independence

A collective art exhibition by individuals with learning disabilities and their carers who find solace in art as a testament to the transformative power of creativity. Each brush stroke and every sculpted form is a captured moment in art that carries an emotional importance which contributes to a larger mosaic of well-being and understanding one piece at a time.
The exhibition celebrates the unique perspectives and artistic journeys of these remarkable creators and their pieces come together to form a harmonious whole. This exhibition illuminates the creative process, the challenges they’ve overcome, and the joy found in self-expression.

The Tower - The Murmuration of Words by Bean Sawyer

The Murmuration of Words is a postal poetry project started by artist and writer, Bean Sawyer in January 2023. The collaborative poems are written by many voices travelling many miles. The exhibition will feature a selection of poems, along with cyanotype poetry maps sewn with each individual flight path, and cyanotype prints featuring words from the poem. Bean has also made a series of poetry videos to accompany the exhibition and there will be an opportunity for visitors to contribute towards a special exhibition murmuration poem.

Discovery Room Windows - Sharing my love of colour by Joy Dixon

Joy’s prints and embroideries often reflect the colours and images of the coast and countryside near her Pembrokeshire home. Hand printed backgrounds are combined with free-motion machine embroidery and hand stitching to enhance her designs. Gel-plate printing works perfectly with her textile work and making collages.

North Pole post box arrives at Oriel y Parc!

A magical delivery appears each winter to collect your messages to Santa. Write your festive wishes in a letter and drop it into the special post box. Be sure to remember to visit again, after three days, to pick up Santa’s reply and a surprise from the elves’ workshop.
